Advisory Committee to the Director of Public Safety [open term]

The Committee meets during the fall and spring semesters to: discuss concerns and issues relating to SIUC constituents and the Office of Public Safety; provide authorized information to the Committee to share with those they represent; and educate the SIUC community about the various programs and services provided by the Public Safety Office . The goal of the Committee is to create a means of open and honest communication between the Public Safety Office and its constituency. This will assist in the Public Safety Office's endeavor to accomplish its mission to provide a safe and secure environment for SIUC students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Affirmative Action Advisory Committee [2 year term]

The primary function of the Committee is to serve in an advisory capacity to the Associate Chancellor (Diversity). In addition, the committee serves in an advisory capacity to the University Affirmative Action Officer. The committee will study policies, procedures, and programs of affirmative action as they affect recruitment, hiring, and retention of University employees. The committee when requested will also review policies and programs of the University in regard to the recruitment and retention of students. The committee will study other matters requested in writing to the Chair by the University Affirmative Action Officer or the Associate Chancellor (Diversity.) Meetings will be held quarterly and as required.

Chancellor's Planning and Budget Advisory [2 year term]

The Council has one primary advises the Chancellor on budgetary matters by creating a budget process that clearly identifies issues, incorporates planning into the resource allocation process, establishes accountability for the entire campus community, and provides follow-up reporting. The Council provides a forum for the exchange of information and the discussion of issues that affect the planning, allocation and budgeting of University resources.

The Committee meets with the Director of Information Technology, as well as the department heads of Information Technology (IT) to advise IT on policy about computing on campus. It provides input from constituencies and serves as a conduit for decisions being made about computing. Meetings are schedule as needed.

Honorary Degrees and Distinguished Service Award Selection Committee [4 year term]

Susan Edgren (08/09-08/13)
The Committee is advisory to the Chancellor and has the responsibility for reviewing all nominations for an Honorary Degree or Distinguished Service Award. Nominations are solicited from all recognized University constituencies and all other University-related organizations. The decisions reached by the Committee are submitted to the Chancellor of the University for his/her action. Meetings are scheduled as needed.
Intercollegiate Athletics Advisory Committee (IAAC) [2 year term]

The IAAC's primary function is to serve in an advisory capacity to the Chancellor. In addition, the Committee serves in an advisory capacity to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. The Committee studies policies, procedures, and programs pertaining to athletics as they affect the athletes, the athletic staff, the University, the Alumni, and the general public. In addition, the Committee can be called upon to conduct studies, attend hearings, and serve in a variety of subcommittees, attending to the needs of the Athletic Department. Meetings are held each month during the academic year and at least once during the summer term.

The JRB was established to administer the grievance policy of the A/P staff and to assume jurisdiction in some cross-constituency grievances. The Board is charged with resolving both substantive and procedural issues and meets on an as-needed basis. Ombudsman Advisory Panel [2 year term]

The Panel is responsible to the campus constituencies and was established to assure the essential autonomy and effectiveness of the University Ombudsman Office. Members function primarily as advisory consultants while being informed of the efforts of the Office. The Panel normally meets once per semester.
Recreational Sports and Services Advisory Board [2 year term]

The Board advises the Director of Recreational Sports and Services and appropriate supporting staff on a variety of issues that could include fee increases, facility developmental renovation, program review, customer satisfaction, and other relevant issues related to the office. The Board meets regularly each month, September through May, unless changed by the Board.

The Board involves students, faculty, staff, and alumni in the development of programs and policies which fulfill the cultural, educational, and recreational needs of the SIUC community. The Board advises the Student Center Director on policy formation and review and program development and review. Meetings are scheduled monthly.

The Committee plays a major role in establishing motor vehicle and bicycle regulations and makes recommendations for spending of parking funds. The Committee's decisions are advisory to the Chancellor through the Executive Director for Administration. Meetings are approximately held monthly.
Traffic and Parking Appeals Board [2 year term]

The Board has the authority to deny or affirm monetary use charge imposed under Section 7-105 of the Bicycle and Vehicle Regulations. Any person objecting to the decision of the Hearing Officer can appeal the decision to this Board. The Board meets monthly for approximately two hours to hear appeals and render a vote.

The Committee was formed approximately 25 years ago to be advisory to the Chancellor. The Committee has broad representation, with several ex officio members, and evaluates issues related to insurance, retirement, and leave policies. The UJBC meets the last Tuesday afternoon of each month (excluding the months of May, July, and December).

The mission of the Committee is to enhance the opportunities for the professional development and advancement of women at SIUC, thereby contributing to the University's overall effectiveness and progress. UWPA is an 18-member constituency-based advisory group of faculty, A/P, and civil service staff which meets regularly to assist the UWPA Coordinator in planning and delivering programming for all SIUC women. The Committee meets approximately three times per semester. There are no summer meetings.
